The report describes experiences in integrating women's aspects into Early Implementation Projects (EIP) in Bangladesh. It is based on a month spent in a small village in Patuakhali where one of the base-line studies was carried out. The work focused on female-headed households. Besides being a limited group of people, this is also a particularly vulnerable category of women, and an attempt was made to acquire knowledge about their living conditions and to see in what ways they are influenced by the work of EIP. The report consists of two parts. The first part presents a case study of one of these women and is intended as a kind of introduction to a social and cultural context made up of the group of female heads of households who live and work within the village setting. The second part examines the ways in which EIP relates to women's lives and the measures taken within the framework of EIP to ensure that benefits will reach women in the target group. It also comments upon how the methodology used in the feasibility and base-line studies of EIP is carried out in practice.
