Simultaneous use of CEA and GGT in the diagnosis of hepatic metastasis

Since the advent of chemotherapy and immunotherapy as adjuvantial treatment of cancer surgery, the 11. precise diagnosis of metastases has become more imperious. Hepatic metastases are in other respects especially frequent and relatively inaccessible. Many authors have evaluated different methods, including determination of 12. many biochemical parameters, in order to ameliorate the diagnosis of hepatic metastases. Since none of these methods taken alone seemed to be satisfactory, some investigators have tried a multiparametric approach. In this work we evaluate a biparametric approach including 13. CEA and GGT and we compare it to those methods most commonly used to evaluate hepatic metastases. Our approach seems to be highly sensitive for an early diagnosis.
