Nine hundred and fifty-four goat serum samples from Mali were examined by the latex agllutination test (LAT) for antibodies to F38 polysaccharide; 354 (37%) were positive. Since the LAT has been shown to detect antibodies to a F38 polysaccharide which are not induced by other goat mycoplasmas it is suggested that mycoplasma F38, the causative organism of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia, infects goats in Mali.
