Oral administration of vitamin E or Se to rats on a vitamin E-deficient casein diet stimulated by an average of 128 or 34%, respectively, the uptake of 86Rb by liver slices that had been previously depleted of K by cooling. Inclusion of 100 ppm alpha -tocopheryl acetate or 0.30 ppm Se in the deficient diet resulted in 50 to 202 and 17 to 97% increase in Rb uptake by rat liver slices as compared to unsupplemented controls.
