Noise levels in physicians' offices

The development of hand-held auditory screening devices has led to increased hearing screening by physicians. Ambients noise levels were assessed in examination rooms of 20 physician offices. Measurements provided Ln, Leq, Lmax, and octave band data for specialty types: pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice and otolaryngology. Such data should not replace the need for individually monitoring potential screening sites.
