A 20-yr-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in the chest and abdomen who later developed intestinal obstruction was found to have peritonitis with extensive necrosis of the small intestine. After resection and antibiotic treatment he developed an unresponsive high fever and C. guilliermondii was isolated from the 9 blood samples taken. About 30 hr after intravenous amphotericin B treatment (total 325 mg over 12 days), temp. was reduced to normal.
