Induction by corticosteroids of systemic candidiasis in adult mice infected during the neonatal period

Data were presented on the effect of corticosteroids on adult mice infected with Candida fungi in the neonatal period. The introduction of Candida albicans to newborn mice led to the long-term preservation of fungi in the murine digestive tract in the form of saprophytes. This experimental model is the closest to the state of carriage in humans. Therefore, in the described model, as in humans, the effect of the risk factor for the development of candidiasis leads to the development of the mycotic process in the carrier.
