Women are vulnerable to the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), and are now contracting the disease at a faster rate than men. However, many are ignorant of their potential risk of infection and it is only recently that the scientific community has begun to look at human immunovirus (HIV) infection in women. The media and statistical reporting still lag behind.
