The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the practice of discontinuing TPN when patients tolerate 60% of caloric requirements orally or enterally was adequate to maintain nutritional status, as measured by changes in circulating plasma protein concentrations, during the week that follows the end of TPN therapy.
