The clone analysed (pARI.3) was derived from WF X DA (RT1u X RT1a) rats, which express the pregnancy-associated antigen (a class-I antigen). The clone was 1.25 kb long, and could readily be aligned with class-I sequences from other species; it contained regions encoding the alpha 2 and alpha 3 extracellular domains, the transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains, and the 3' untranslated region.
