The 793-b.p. sequence of an alpha A-crystallin cDNA probe is presented. The sequence was estimated to be 400 b.p. short of the corresponding full-length mRNA. Its 519-b.p. coding sequence was 89-90% homologous with sequences from mice, rats and hamsters.
