Synchronisation of oestrus in goats

Intravaginal sponges impregnated with 60 mg MAP (Veramix) inhibited oestrus in 7 adult cycling goats. Following removal of the sponges after 17 days, 1 showed oestrus within 24 hr and 5 99 within 48 hr. In the 7th goat, oestrous activity was first recorded 22 days after sponge removal, which coincided with the 2nd oestrus following treatment of 4 of the other 99.
