From June 1959 to January 1963 the average birth weight was 2,762 g (6.1 lbs.); incidence of babies weighing 2,500 g or less, 21.5%. This was a fairly high incidence. Parity of the mothers varied from 1 to 16; 17.1% were primiparas, 82.9% multiparas. Average birth weight of infants increased up to the 10th para. Commonest age of mothers was 20 to 30 years. Twenty-nine castes availed themselves of the hospital facilities. Sex ratio at birth was 975 females per 1,000 males. Average number of terminations per mother was 4.2. The still birth rate was 25 per 1,000 total births; the abortion rate 36 per 1,000 pregnancies. There were 12 twin births in 1,051 pregnancies (1.1%). Two infants (0.2%) had congenital defects. The improvident maternity incidence was 43.5%. Of children born 48.5% do not survive the mother at Dabra.
