Food security strategies in the Southern Africa Development Co-ordination Conference (SADCC) region are pursued through: (1) the reinforcement of national and regional food production capacity, (2) the improvement of regional trading relations and trade structures, and (3) the establishment of systems for the prevention of acute food shortages. Projects which are being implemented in support of these strategies are outlined.
