Use of tenoxicam in patients with acute gouty arthritis

Tenoxicam is a new thienothiazine derivative belonging to the oxicam chemical group, which has been shown to possess potent anti-inflammatory activity in animal models of induced inflammation. Tenoxicam specifically inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins and platelet aggregation. Like most NSAIDs, tenoxicam is a weak acid whose solubility depends on the pH of the medium. It was concluded that tenoxicam is an excellent anti-inflammatory drug in the treatment of acute gouty arthritis.
