The action of GnRH on rat oocytes has been extensively studied by the authors in hypophysectomised rats treated with a GnRH agonist analogue (GnRHa) and in follicle-enclosed oocytes exposed to GnRHa in vitro. The results of these studies, as well as relevant findings of other investigators, are reviewed in this paper.
