The fluorescent antibody test is as sensitive as conventional histological examination in the diagnosis of ovine abortion due to toxoplasmosis except when tissue degeneration is very marked. It is quicker and it is easier in that it avoids the need for critical evaluation of the varying types of histological changes. There is no reason to doubt the specificity of the method.
