The homologous polyprenols cappaprenol-12, cappaprenol-13 and cappaprenol-14, with 12, 13 and 14 isoprene residues, respectively, were isolated from alcoholic extracts of C. spinosa leaves with 0.45, 0.99 and 0.32% yields on a DW basis. Cappaprenol-13 produced 44% inhibition of the carrageenan-induced paw oedema in rats compared with 67% for the standard oxyphenbutazone.
