We would advocate to check carefully serum uric acid and serum potassium levels before the treatment and to refrain from prescribing Indapamide in those patients with high uric acid levels and/or low potassium levels or, in case the Indapamide prescription appears a real must, then the co-prescription of a diet and the convenient combination of an anti-uricosuric agent and/or potassium supplementation should be done. It could be interesting also to investigate if Indapamide could be of any value in more severe cases either alone or combined.
