The histological pattern of the ovotestis of the normal adult snail Bulinus truncatus (Audoin), the transmitter of urinary schistosomiasis in Egypt, is described, together with the histology of the ovotestis of snails exposed to three different concentrations of Canna indica L. leaf extract. The various doses of Canna extract had a marked effect on both the structural connective tissue of the ovotestis and on gametogenesis. The degree of the effect of Canna as a molluscicidal plant on gametogenesis in the ovotestis of exposed snails was found to be concentration-dependent.
