Effect of starvation and refeeding on cysteamine dioxygenase activity in rat liver and heart

Cysteamine dioxygenase activity has been measured in liver and heart of the rat during starvation and refeeding. The activity is depressed under fasted conditions and enhanced during refeeding and in the fed rat. The behaviour has been correlated with the bimodal behaviour of plasma insulin in the same conditions and suggests a modulation of the enzyme by the hormone.
