Experimental study of the immunocorrective properties of alpha-tocopherol in stress

It was established in experiments on CBA mice that a 6-hour immobilization stress produces an extremely unfavourable effect on the immune system. It induces lymphopenia and hypoplasia of the thymus, suppresses the humoral and cellular immune response, and weakens macrophage phagocytic activity. Administration of .alpha.-tocopherol in a daily dose of 5IU for 2 days before the reproduction on stress and on the day of stress prevents the development of all unfavourable changes induced by stress in the sphere of immune reactions.
