Young male gerbils in 3 groups were fed to appetite on 3 purified diets: carbohydrate (CHO) diet with casein 15 and glucose 75%; coconut (COC) with casein 15, glucose 60 and coconut oil 15%; safflower (SAF) with casein 15, glucose 60 and safflower oil 15%. The remaining 10% of all the diets consisted of a mixture of celluflour, minerals and vitamins. During 2 months, weight gains were similar in all groups.
