A preterm infant of 28 weeks gestational age and weighing 900 g was fed nasogastrically with expressed breast milk every 2 h at 4 days old, the amount of milk given increasing gradually to 200 ml/kg daily. Nasogastric feeding was gradually replaced by bottle feeds with expressed breast milk at 28 days old when body weight was 1200 g. The infant weighed 2.5 and 5.13 kg at 3 and 6 months old, respectively.
