Recurring benign idiopathic hematuria

A group of 5 young patients, without family history of nephropathy, was evaluated because of gross hematuria relapsing for more than two years with normal renal function. Histological study disclosed minimal or nonspecific changes in optic microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. Medium term follow-up (.hivin.X: 5.4 years) showed and excellent clinical outcome. The denomination idiopathic benign replasing hematuraia is proposed to define this clinicopathological condition and to separate it from other nephropathies with similar presentation and a different prognosis.
