Seminal plasma & sperm antibody activity in vaginal fluid of infertile women

The presence and significance of locally produced anti-seminal plasma and anti-sperm antibodies in vaginal fluids of both infertile (30) and fertile (control) women were examined by using nylon as solid phase. Anti-seminal plasma antibodies were detected in 13 samples from infertile women while anti-sperm antibodies were present only in 2 samples. These antibodies were of either IgG or IgA class. No IgM antibodies were observed. The results of this study support the concept that IgG and IgA are two major immunoglobulins of seminal plasma and sperm antibodies present in vaginal fluid of infertile women and a routine study of the fluid of infertile-patients can have practical significance.
