The effect of hypertonic mannitol solution has been studied on jejunal segments of male albino rats 'in-vivo'. Varying grades of injury have been observed to the villi besides the shrinkage of mucosa. The severity of injury appears to be related to the osmolarity as well as the duration of exposure.
