The results of clinico-laboratory investigations and the character of the disease course have been analyzed in 68 patients with myelodysplasia. It has been shown that dysplastic changes in hemopoietic cells, percent of blast cells in the leucoconcentrate and myelogram, trepanobiopsy data, monocytosis, lysozyme level in the blood serum, activity of alkaline phosphatase etc. are important in the diagnosis of myelodysplasias. The question has been considered whether it is advisable that the patients with refractory anemia showing excessive blasts in transformation, and those with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia be included into the original FAB classification.
