In this study preliminary evaluation of occurrence of anitracinogenic strains (bacteriocinogenic) among 130 strains of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus var. anitratus and 20 strains of Acinetobacter calcoaceticus var. Iwoffi is presented. Altogether 59 strains (39.3%) out of 150 Acinetobacter sp. tested strains produced antibiotic substances. The authors propose to call antibiotic substances produced by rods of Acinetobacter sp. anitracin and the ability to produce these substances antracinogeny. The introduction of those names is justified by a fact that these microorganisms were also known under synonymous name Bacterium anitratum.
