Health education is a basic element in the delivery of comprehensive health care. Community health education programs, of which school health programs from kindergarten through grade 12 are an integral part, are one of the most viable methods to help alleviate today's health problems. Seven recommendations compiled by the Committee on School Health are highlighted. The Committee urges action on health education at state and local levels. Course content and teacher preparation requirements are specified.
