Using data obtained from Veterinary Investigation Centres, the location of premises on which bovine brucellosis, mycotic abortion and salmonella abortion occurred during one year was plotted on maps of England and Wales. Although brucellosis was still widespread, the highest incidence was in the south-west, north-west and West Midland areas of England and south-west Wales. The highest incidence of mycotic abortion was in south-west Wales and south-west England, whilst salmonella abortion was particularly common in south-west Wales, Cheshire, Monmouth and around Bristol.
