Lesions in the upper alimentary tract of captive East African snakes were found to be associated with Kalicephalus worms. The lesions varied in severity from localized areas of hyperaemia to extensive erosions and haemorrhage. Several species of snakes were involved and at least 2 species of Kalicephalus. Treatment with thiabendazole appeared to be effective and was introduced as a routine, coupled with hygienic measures.
