The report is based on 10 cases in which anesthetized patients were placed in ice water until the rectal temperature reached 26°C-30°C, at 16 to 65 minutes. Detailed summaries of two cases are given. The initial complaint was one of paraesthesiae occurring peripherally, in some cases becoming hypesthesia and hypalgesia. Mechanisms producing the pathology are mentioned.
