The clinico-laboratory characteristics of the periods of acute renal failure in hemorrhagic fever with a renal syndrome are presented on the basis of 104 cases. Glucocorticoids, a combination of vitamins, and colloid or salt solutions that were administered intravenously in the initial period of acute renal failure produced a favourable effect on the course of the disease. Combined administration of lasix (furosemide), euphilline solutions of glucose, sodium and calcium chloride and of corticoids under control of the amount of liquids being introduced had a favourable effect in the period of oliguria and in the first days of restoration of diuresis in 27 of the 40 patients with a serious form of the disease. When there was no effect extracorporeal hemodialysis has been resorted to. Three patients died. Rational therapy contributes to a decrease in mortality in this disease.
