The reference values for the basic haematological parameters, namely, cell counts and white-cell differential count, were obtained from a healthy population comprised of 171 men and 232 women, with ages between 19 and 69 years. The results were analysed with regard to age, sex and tobacco smoking habit, and they are commented and compared to reports from other authors.
