The leukocyte adherence inhibition reaction in patients with acute leukemia

Leucocyte adhesion inhibition test (LAI-test) was studied in 40 acute leukemia (AL) patients and in 23 normal subjects. The LAI-test with leukemia antigens obtained from beast cells of AL patients was positive in 81% of AL patients in the active phase of the disease, and in 53% of AL patients in the short period (less than 1 year) of clinico-hematological remission. These data have evidenced the sensitization of mononuclear blood cells of AL patients to antigens associated with leukemia. In 87% of normal subject the LAI-test with leukemia antigens was negative.
