The case of a 35-year-old man from Assiut, Egypt, who presented with vague abdominal pains, intermittent colic on his right side and severe pruritus ani is described. Clinical examination revealed no organomegaly and normal temperature, blood pressure and blood picture. Stool examination revealed numerous larvae of Chrysomya albiceps. The patient was treated with a single 600 mg dose of benzimidazole; abdominal symptoms were soon relieved and 2 stool examinations 2 weeks apart were negative. It is suggested that the patient became infected by eating cheese contaminated with eggs or larvae of C. albiceps.
