The cloning of the human bone marrow stromal precursor cells (CFEf) after storage at different temperature and time regimens enabled the authors to establish their relative stability in the external medium. The cloning efficiency (CFEf) is not changed during first 48 h after the bone marrow removal from the body and storage at +4.degree.C. CFEf of the human bone marrow shows individual sensitivity during storage in the external medium, that has allowed the authors to suggest the presence of a highly stable population of the stromal precursor cells capable of forming colonies in the culture after 14-21 days of storage at +4.degree.C.
