In IDDM state developing in childhood 2 and 8 years resp. following the manifestation of diabetes mellitus clinical symptoms characteristic of MS appeared in acute form in 2 brothers. Recurring attacks and the developing clinical pattern indicated MS in the elder browth. Steroid therapy led to symptom-free state in the younger brother whose complaints did not return during the 5-year observation. HLA antigens not characteristic of IDDM were identical in both boys.
