By intraoperative ultrasound imaging during neurosurgical procedures, rapid and accurate localization and characterization of space-occupying intracerebral lesions is possible, allowing direct and safe biopsy. We present the results of our first seven ultrasound-guided brain biopsies. In all cases the biopsy provided a histological diagnosis and there were no complications of the procedure.
