The effect of aortocoronary shunting on central hemodynamics was studied in 91 patients, age 30-66, in various periods after revascularization as a function of the initial hemodynamics indices. Postoperative improvement of central hemodynamics was observed when the initial reduction of the left ventricle function was determined by ischemia but not by cicatricial changes. After direct revascularization a temporary decrease in the pump function of the heart, a compensatory increase in the heart rate, and a decrease in the systemic arterial tone were observed in most of the patients.
