Between 1951 and 1962, 2,209 serodiagnostic tests for hydatid infection in man were performed at the University of Rostock, East Germany, by means of the complement fixation reaction, using hydatid fluid from animal cysts as antigen. 40 cases were positive and the case histories of 18, including 2 false positives, are described.
