The thesis makes a sociological and historical analysis of the educational system in Tunisia within the framework of the civilization theory of the sociologist Elias. Special attention is paid to basic education in Tunisia and the interrelationship between social changes, political developments on a national level, the formation of social classes and educational developments. Bibliography and statistical data are given.
