Following 2 injs. of tetanus alum precipitated toxoid or 3 injs. of unmodified tetanus toxoid, each subject developed some immunity. Immunity developed more rapidly in those treated with alum precipitated toxoid. After 6 wks., the average potency of the persons immunized was approximately 02 unit per cc. of serum; at 12 wks. it was 0.13 unit; at 6 mos., 0.11 unit; and at 12 mos., 0.06 unit. Another inj. of toxoid was administered to these subjects 1 yr. after the original immunization. At the end of 1 wk. the av. potency showed an increase to 1.3 units per cc. and after 4 wks. to 3.3 units. Each subject gave a definite response with an average increase in potency of 22 times 1 wk. after inj. and 55 times 4 wks. later.
