By acid phosphatase (ACP), 5-nucleotidase (5'N) activities and PAS reaction patterns, the classification of 31 acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) cases (including 5 adult cases) were studied cytochemically. The results indicated that 16% of the cases were T-ALL, while 84% were nonTnonB-ALL. The results of monoclonal antibody method and E-rosette method were in good accordance with the cytochemical classification. The various forms of ACP activity patterns, PAS reaction, the relationship between the results of monoclonal antibody, E-rosette and cytochemical method and the practical value of ACP activity patterns in the identification of E-rosette negative ALL are discussed.
