Myasthenia gravis with myocarditis and sudden death

Some patients with myasthenia gravis, especially those with a concomitant thymoma, have inflammatory infiltrates in skeletal and heart muscle. The case histories of two such patients are reported. Both developed acute, fatal cardiac arrhytmia during treatment in the intensive care unit. The heart disorder, which probably is of autoimmune pathogenesis, is discussed.
