Two outbreaks of Tyzzer's disease occurred in a colony of young rats. The clinical signs and visceral lesions were similar to those seen in other species with Tyzzer's disease. However, when ileal lesions were present they were more extensive in the rat than in other animals with the disease. The syndrome was transmitted to other rats using infected material from natural cases of the disease.
