Preservation and cryopreservation of blood cells--achievements and prospects

The authors present the results of the investigation and development of new preservatives for blood and red blood cell pack that contain adenine, and prolong the term of the cell morphofunctional value. Red blood cell preservation of ultra-low and moderately low temperatures depends on the initial level of iron in red blood cells. It is shown that the use of dimethylacetamide as a cryopreservative is promising for cryopreservation of young red blood cells, platelets and leukocytes.
