Pig r.b.c. could be well preserved in citrate solutions containing cyanides at dilutions of from 1: 17, 000 to 1: 21, 000 for four weeks. In Alsever's solutions containing 1: 2000 and 1: 3000 cyanide, the same cells could be preserved for 60 days in excellent condition. None of 50 blood samples kept in Alsever's solution plus 1: 2500 KCN deteriorated or haemolyzed, and reactivity with isoimmune serum in the direct haemagglutination test was not much decreased even by the 47th day of storage.
