Bacteriological examination of swabs from 95 mares yielded bacteria (streptococci, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Taylorella equigenitalis) from 33 cervix swabs and 65 clitoris swabs. Bacteria were present solely in the latter from 36 mares, and solely in the former in only 4 mares.
